Why you should consider a January refresh for peace of mind

As Christmas approaches, we’re already getting excited about what the New Year may bring.

After stuffing our faces with mince pies and spending more time cooped up inside, it’s no surprise that “lose weight” or “get fit” are amongst many people’s New Year’s resolutions. Sound familiar, anyone?

But while we consider physical health to be important, mental health is also something we must talk about openly. Many of us will suffer from some sort of ‘January Blues’ this year, and there’s no doubt as to why.

The build up to the festive period is often busy and fun-filled with Christmas markets, office parties and wrapping presents. It’s then perfectly normal to have a void to fill in the aftermath. January is also usually a month of ‘tightening our belts’ monetary wise and the continued dark nights can make summer feel so far away.

People deal with this in different ways and it will affect some more than others. We often find that mental health comes hand in hand with physical health and so it’s great to keep exercising throughout the winter months to maintain a positive outlook on life.

We just want you to feel confident about going out for a run in your local park. Whether that means wearing your new gymwear that you got for Christmas, updating your music playlist or feeling that extra bit safer with the OneScream app. Find out more here.

We hope you enjoy the festive period with family and friends! Please remember if you’re concerned about yourself or a loved one and you think it would be helpful to talk to someone, we recommend you contact Mental Health Foundation. Let’s help a sister out and conquer 2018 like a BOSS!
