Our Top 8 Female-Focused Businesses & Organisations That Strive For Equality

When it comes to equal opportunities in the UK, the odds are still stacked against women. In fact, only 22% of roles within leadership positions are held by women. On top of this, a recent government survey has found that a whopping 80% of companies are still paying men more than women when it comes to those same roles. This means that the gender pay gap in the UK currently stands at 17.4%.

What is Gender Equality?

Not only is gender equality a human right, but it’s also necessary for a more sustainable world. In its most basic form, gender equality means that those of any gender are free to pursue whichever career, lifestyle or other opportunities without discrimination.

When it comes to equality, studies show that when women are given the same platforms as men, the economy does better.

On top of this, it reduces poverty on a global scale, as women make up the majority of the world’s poorest population.
