It’s not just women who are standing up for women’s rights and gender equality. And so it shouldn’t be. Anyone can be passionate advocates of women’s rights and be part of the feminist movement. Wouldn’t it be discriminating otherwise?

We were already huge fans of their work and commitments, (how could we not be? James Bond, The Dalai Lama...), and now we respect them even more. Many topics have been covered from sexual inequality, including disparity in pay and opportunities, gender stereotypes, domestic violence and abuse against women.

Many of these male icons have also shown active participation in women’s charities and trusts on top of their day jobs. We agree with Ian Somerhalder, ‘Men have an important role to play in sending out the message that real men do not hurt or abuse their partners’. It’s reassuring to women everywhere to hear of powerful men taking a stand and campaigning for women’s rights.
